Angela Freudenstein
"The whole hotel is our footprint".
Angela Freudenstein actually had nothing to do with gastronomy or the hotel business. Her journey to becoming a hostess was more or less a spontaneous idea. She actually wanted to become a flight attendant.
"I always thought I'd get into the big wide world through my job, but then I just ran into Norbert Freudenstein (laughs)."
Angela and Norbert Freudenstein started their own business at a young age. She was just 22 years old. Their course was set early on for gastronomy and the hotel business. And when they opened Immenhof in 1984, they already had two children.
"Well, if you think about the development. In the early days at Immenhof, it was amazing that we had a fax machine. That was super modern at the time. You can't even imagine it today. And in 1996 or 98 we even had a computer. I remember that we spent day and night learning how to use a mouse. And we also had one of the first hotel programs. That was a real challenge."
Angela took her trainer's exam and continued to expand her horizons. Subsequently, she also got to know some diamonds in the rough among her trainees. One of them still works at Hotel Immenhof today: son-in-law Oliver Arar.
"Yes, he also learned with us. I never expected him to become our son-in-law (laughs). Oliver had been with us for a long time when he and Jenny hit it off. So, having your son-in-law as an employee is something you first have to get used to. But actually, everything was great very quickly and we still get along very well."
Since the Hotel Immenhof has existed, the motto has been: "We like to have guests for life". And Angela wishes this thought for the future as well. But she is also happy that it will be continued in a modern way by her children.
"We worked a lot and it was often a rocky road. Thank God we stuck it out, me and my husband. And now, of course, we are very fortunate that our children continue to run the business with their husbands. So we can enjoy our free time and retirement, too."
"So honestly, I have three kids and I've always been fully engaged in our business. For me as a woman, that was something very special." (Angela Freudenstein)
